  • The Canadian Rockies Series, is a collection of stories sharing the history, culture and traditions of Alberta’s eastern slopes. The 13-part one-hour documentary series reveals the people who have lived and worked in some of the most remote regions of the Rocky Mountains.

    Filming in an environment with little room for error, a historical and adventure filmmaker, Susan Feddema-Leonard, shares her path to success as she captures stunning footage and untold tales from some of the most remote locations of the Canadian Rockies. “Pieces of the Sky” details how Producer and Director Susan Feddema-Leonard managed, against all odds, to produce the 13-part one-hour Canadian Rockies Series. She had a dream that seemed impossible to achieve, yet never quit! 2021 Awards: The Forgotten Ones was nominated for two 2021 Alberta Film and Television Rosie Awards. These include Best Documentary Series and Best Musical Score (non-fiction over 30 minutes).
  • The Forgotten Ones: 
    “The Forgotten Ones” is a modern-day tale that weaves together present day and historic footage. The story shares how the old time mountain men mentor young people who want to learn the skillsets of their grandfathers—the voyageurs of yester-year. 2020 Awards: The Forgotten Ones was nominated for five 2020 Alberta Film and Television Rosie Awards. These include Best Documentary Series, Best Director (non-fiction over 30 minutes), Best Musical Score (non-fiction over 30 minutes),  Best Cinematography and Best Sound (non-fiction over 30 minutes).
  • Roots that Go Deep: 45:03 minutes
    “Roots that Go Deep” shares the story of a family as they face the challenges of starting four young wild mares, passing the traditions on to a younger generation as they travel the trails in Willmore Wilderness Park. 2020 Awards: Roots that Go Deep was nominated for two 2020 Alberta Film and Television Rosie Awards. These include Best Musical Score (non-fiction over 30 minutes) and Best Cinematography.
  • Through the Mist of Time: 44:50 minutes Join Bazil Leonard as he learns of discoveries from archaeological digs, dinosaur trackways, old native grave sites—to a riveting untold story of the biggest manhunt in the annals of the Northwest Mounted Polices’ history. “Through the Mists of Time” reveals the intriguing history of Alberta’s eastern slopes.
  • “Ghosts on the Jackpine” shares the story of a family and their three dogs as they venture on a packhorse expedition, exploring the rich history of some of the most remote regions in Willmore Wilderness Park. 2019 Awards: The Alberta Film & Television Rosie Awards nomination for Best Director (non-fiction over 30 minutes).
  • “Spirit of the Rockies” shares the saga of an 86-year-old Iroquois-Cree Elder who has one last desire. Tom Wanyandie travels 200-kilometers on horseback to restore his grandfather’s grave deep in Willmore Wilderness Park. 2019 Awards: The Alberta Film & Television Rosie Awards nomination for Best Documentary Series (non-fiction over 30 minutes).
  • “Trials and Tribulations of Old Trailmen” shares the uphill battle of recovering from a stroke and finding a way back into the Rockies. Recovering from a stroke, an 81-year-old mountain man wonders if he’ll ever get back to the places he’s loved his entire life—or if he’d ever even walk again. Despite the odds, he overcomes adversity. In riding horses, he borrows freedom. 2018 Awards: The Alberta Film & Television Rosie Awards nominations for Best Cinematography and Best Original Musical Score (non-fiction over 30 minutes.)
  • Share in the adventures of “Mountain Men” who couldn’t see spending their lives penned up; having devoted their efforts to being free spirits.   • “Mountain Mustang” shares the story of Master Horseman Larry Nelles as he teaches true horsemanship through feel, sensitivity, kindness, patience, and a soft manner. Larry teaches three young horsemen his unique way of communicating with their four-legged friends. Awards 2016: The Alberta Film & Television Rosie Awards nominations for Best Documentary Series (non-fiction over 30 minutes), Best Original Musical Score for (non-fiction over 30 minutes), Best Overall Sound, and Best Cinematography
  • “Long Road Home” is a story of a 200 kilometer, 12-day horseback expedition through the Canadian Rocky Mountains featuring the return of Mountain Métis descendants, whose forefathers were forced out of Canada’s Jasper National Park in 1909. 2011 Awards: Long Road Home was an Official Selection for the 2011 Dreamspeaker’s Film Festival.
  • “Wildie” is a story that features two young native women as they each start and train wild horses. Both teens embrace the traditions and culture of their forefathers who lived and worked in the Canadian Rockies. 2013 Awards: Wildie was nominated for the Best Original Musical Score (non-fiction over 30 min) for Alberta Film and Television Rosie Awards Many of us have dreamed of taming one of the wild horses that still roam freely in the Rockies. Share the experience of two young native women as they each start and train a wild mare. See friendship and trust grow between horse and rider as they bond under the mentorship of Master Horseman Larry Nelles. Wildie shares the story of a unique horseback culture.
